CASUAL STAFF PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT WORKSHOP

INVITATION TO CASUAL STAFF PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT WORKSHOP (HALF-DAY)

Are you a casual academic or casual professional staff member working at Deakin University? Last year, the NTEU started a secure work campaign called ‘Keeping it casual, Not OK, Make a commitment, Deakin!’ to highlight the issues that Deakin casual staff are facing. One of the common challenges that casuals experience is exclusion from the intellectual and social life of their school or department. This means that casuals often miss out on training and professional development.

As part of our secure work campaign, NTEU Deakin Branch invites you to attend a joint professional development workshop for casual academic and casual professional staff (half-day).

Sessions will include:
• How to write an application for an ongoing academic position

• Training on classification for general staff

• Strategies for engaging students in sessional teaching

• Casual academic and professional staff industrial rights under the current Deakin EBA, and much more!

You don’t have to be an NTEU member to come along, everyone’s welcome! Lunch will be provided after the workshop which will be a great opportunity to meet other casual staff.

If you have any questions about the workshop or about other issues affecting casual staff, please contact Gaurav Nanda at supercasuals@nteu.org.au

Please RSVP below for catering purposes. Thanks!
